SHOCK: Extremely Blurry Woolly Mammoth Badly CGI’d Into Tabloid Video!

Screengrab from the Sun

Totally reliable UK tabloid The Sun has an explosive video on its site today, purportedly of a gosh-danged real woolly mammoth crossing a frosty Siberian river. It’s amazing!

This remarkable document was made in the Summer of 2011 in the Chukotka Autonomous Okrug region of Siberia, by (The Sun reports) “a government-employed engineer.”

The blurry, totally not computer-generated creature  can be seen lumbering in an oddly smooth manner across a white-capped current.

The Sun goes on to quote a paranormal writer named Michael Cohen regarding the find and it is here my bias–or skepticism–shows, as I’ve never read anything that wasn’t laughably credulous from Mr. Cohen, who appears to believe every single paranormal/cryptid/UFO video he finds on Youtube is the real deal. Seriously, Google the guy; I don’t want to give him whatever minimal  traffic this blog gets at the moment with a link.*

I couldn’t post the Sun’s embed code (free WordPress drawback) but opted–since I believe this is hilarious b.s.–to just make a video on my phone of the video playing on my computer. So it’s a blurry video of a blurry video.

I somehow find that appropriate.

* I don’t actually think Michael Cohen is that dumb–lack of skepticism is a way to scrum for traffic and get attention from paranormal outlets  that have their own mini-industry in reinforcing true believers.
